The holiday destinations which offers “Islamic Tourism” do not serve alcohol, pork. It also accommodates separate swimming pools and spa facilities for men and women. Turkey-a Muslim Country from Mid-East and Malaysia from ASEAN and many more countries has established the mode of tourism in the respective countries. The Maldives is also pitching itself to the Islamic tourism market following a surge of interest in the destination from the Middle East and Gulf region last year. Maldives being a 100% Muslim Country it will be very easier to adopt the trend. Maldives Resort Managers says that the Maldives is a perfect destination for the Muslim Travelers as all the food items in the resorts are “Halal”, apart from the pork and alcohol, and all the islands have mosques. And the best offering is that the “Halal” cuisine is made and served separately. As they say, the key appeal of the destination to the market was the isolation and privacy offered by resorts in the Maldives. When you see the existing resorts in the Maldives, many resorts have rooms with private pools and spas. Privacy being the key market factor, one of the unique thing about the rooms in the resort of the Maldives is that you can be in the room for a week or a month without appearing to anybody.

Maldives is already in a joint venture to develop a five-star, resort in Shaviyani Atoll Gaakoshibee with Caprice Gold. Caprice Gold, renowned for Islamic tourism, will invest $170 million on the resort, which is expected to become operational by last quarter of this year. The resort will be the first Sharia’s Complaint Resort establishment in the Maldives.

Although we have several Muslim tourists arriving in Maldives including royalties from Gulf States, a Sharia’s Complaint Resort for the Muslim tourist has been wanting for some time.
